FEATURE: Movies to Musicals brings West End stars to Glasgow [Musical Theatre, Glasgow]

Updated: Jun 2

Movies to Musicals 2023

How exciting is this! On Sunday 19th February we have actual West End royalty at the Theatre Royal in Glasgow.

Movies to Musicals is an all singing, all dancing theatrical show that brings together a night of your favourite musicals and movie soundtracks performed by a live orchestra, Musical Theatre cast and artists from London’s West End.

The young MT cast, who appeared on the 2022 series of Britain’s Got Talent, will be joined by Laura Pick, known for playing Elphaba in Wicked; Alistair Brammer, who has played Chris in Miss Saigon, Fiyero in Wicked and Marius in Les Miserables; and Louise Dearman, the first woman to play both Elphaba and Glinda in Wicked, Eva Peron in Evita and the Narrator in Joseph. Incredible!

Glasgow Philharmonia SCIO are a brilliant charity. Led by producer, founder and conductor Ross Gunning, Glasgow Philharmonia looks for the stars of tomorrow every year to give them incredible opportunities to perform free of charge or for very little cost. 37 young performers have achieved a place in this kids cast and are extremely excited about performing at the Theatre Royal for the first time.

Expect songs from Miss Saigon, Wicked, The Prom, Waitress, Hamilton and many more. I've even heard rumour of a sing-a-long Jersey Boys finale!!

I can't wait to see this show tomorrow night and there are still some tickets left if you fancy it too.

In the meantime, please enjoy some pictures from rehearsals and from the casts recently trip to Ardentinny in Dunoon. Don't they look like a lovely bunch!

Good luck. I'll be cheering you all on from the circle.
