Scottish Comedians at Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2023: Robin Grainger

Updated: May 29

You will be spoiled for choice if you're looking for a local Scottish comedian at Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Here are just some that I've seen recently and I recommend:

Robin Grainger: An Audient with Robin Grainger

With only one ticket sold to opening night of his show 'It's Robin Time' at last year's Edinburgh Fringe, Robin Grainger decided to go ahead and perform his set anyway. He gave it his all, and the audience member loved it. Unbeknownst to Robin, Kate Copstick, a journalist from The Scotsman, had arrived early for the next show and she was also listening-in to his performance (I assume through the curtain at the bar!). Kate was impressed with what she heard and she spoke with the audience member as he left the venue. The audience member's review was glowing and the rest, as they say, is history. Kate picked up Robin's story and within a week he was featured by over sixty news media outlets worldwide, every major radio station and recommended by Kevin Bridges and Iain Stirling.

I so admire that Robin didn't cancel his show with only one person in. And it paid off! I also love that he's running with it and has called his show this year 'An audient with Robin Grainger.' An audient! 😆 But most importantly, I've seen Robin's stand-up and not only is he a very funny man, but a genuinely lovely one too. Go support him! Let's make sure he doesn't have 'an audient' at any show this year.

An Audient with Robin Grainger is on 8pm every night* at The Stand 2 from August 3-27.

*Not Monday 14th August

🎟️ Tickets £10 from tickets.edfringe.com or thestand.co.uk

Following last years sell-out success, Robin Grainger returns to the 2023 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, with his brand new show: An Audient with Robin Grainger. Described as “A Festival Legend” by the BBC and “An Overnight Star” by The Daily Telegraph, Robin hit the headlines at last years Edinburgh Fringe Festival when he played to an audience of one on the opening night.

The story of Robin and his audient went viral being picked up by over sixty news outlets such as BBC 1, BBC Radio 2, Heart FM, BBC 5 Live, The Telegraph, The Scottish Sun, Metro to name just a few as well as internationally in Australia, Canada, Germany and Ireland. The story even became the inspiration for BBC Radio Scotland’s Thought For The Day. The Scotsman’s Kate Copstick described the show “It was every good thing it should be’ and with recommendations from comedy heavyweights Kevin Bridges and Iain Stirling, this years show has already been cited by the official Edinburgh Festival Fringe team as “Creating A Buzz.”
