Reuben Kaye is a superstar! I will hear no arguments.
The stage presence! The charisma! The talent! Reuben Kaye is in a sensational league of his own. And his comedy cabaret show 'The Butch is Back' is a must see if you are in Edinburgh this August.
Comedian, showgirl, actress, singer, model and 'Award-winning cry for help' - Reuben oozes star quality. I could not take my eyes off him. I even found his posters to be hypnotic on the streets of Edinburgh.
'The Butch is Back' is outrageous, and the comedy is most definitely adult. Along with original songs and backed by his own full band 'The Close Contacts', Reuben entertains us with wickedly funny and sometimes heartfelt stories from the past few years.
Even when things take a more serious tone, Reuben never loses that devious twinkle in his eye... Mischief and mayhem are around every corner.
The atmosphere at this show was electric from beginning to end. The sell-out audience loved it and the standing ovation was instant, enthusiastic and well deserved.
From what I saw, Reuben works incredibly hard. He never stops moving during the 90 minute show, and he fully commits to every musical number (in heels I'd struggle to stand still in!). As soon as his show finished, he raced down stairs to take photos with adoring fans. He then had another show to host (his variety cabaret show The Kaye Hole) straight after. He must be exhausted! He is working so hard for success and he deserves it by the bucket-load
I don't know when I've ever been in the presence of such a mesmerising performer. Maybe never. This is something special. Reuben is special. And if you didn't already know, Reuben's gender pronoun is Talented. Yep! You'll hear no arguments from me.
