⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Cher Show, UK Tour 2022

I expected this show to be good. I expected lots of Cher songs, sequins and dancing. But it was so much more!

This show has drama, it is very funny, it's empowering and it has a lot of heart. The performances are excellent. The lighting is incredible! Hats off to Ben Cracknell and the whole creative team. The sets and lighting really make this a spectacle.

The costumes are gorgeous. And you'd better BELIEVE everything comes together to make a phenomenal show. I cried (always a sign of a brilliant show) and I had a great night out.

Directed by Arlene Philips and choreographed by Oti Mabuse, the dancing was always going to be amazing, and the leads and the ensemble do a great job with it.

If you don't know anything about this show, you may not know that there are 3 Chers.

I was dubious to be honest, but it works brilliantly!

I know Millie O'Connell as Anne Boleyn in Six. I saw her twice with the original cast in 2019. I thought she was a scene stealing, comic genius then, and she perfectly portrays the younger Cher, Babe here. Teen Cher is shy and quirky but then out comes this powerful voice! Millie magically transforms in front of our eyes from child to pop star.

Danielle Steers plays Lady, or middle Cher. What stage presence she has! I'm going to need every single one of her costumes. She has the most amazing sequined jumpsuits that suited her perfectly. I don't have anywhere to go, but I'd wear them down the shops or to Sunday lunch. Danielle's voice and performance as Cher is so powerful. Out of the 3 Chers, it was Danielle my eyes were always drawn to.

The third Cher is Star, masterfully played by Debbie Kurup. She is so believable in the role that I would go to Debbie's concert. She reminds me of Whitney Houston and although I was not familiar with Debbie before, I am definitely a fan now.

I'd go see any of the Chers in their own show to be honest. Casting has done a phenomenal job here. Superstars all 3 of them.

This is a brilliant, joyous piece of musical theatre. I booked to go again as soon as I got home.
