Tim Murray wanted to be a witch.
Yes, all of them.
From The Sanderson Sisters in Hocus Pocus to Sabrina the Teenage Witch and many more, Tim Murray has based his heartfelt, hilarious, comedy cabaret show 'Tim Murray is Witches' on all his favourite pop culture witches.
Dressed in a variety of outfits that give a nod to his 90's witchy idols, Murray is part drag queen, part comedian, all fabulous. He takes us through his life-long love of witches, and his struggles with fitting in at school and in life, via the medium of song. Inspired original song after song. They are ALL very clever, dark and funny.
There are plenty of jokes too, profound personal stories, musical theatre references, a genius improvised number based on a story a couple in the audience have literally just told us (mighty impressive!) and a brand new anthem for 2024 about the joys of being over 40 that parodies one of my own personal favourite witches (no spoilers!) The hour flies by as Tim expertly entertains the crowd with his creative and compelling take on comedy and cabaret.
As you would expect from someone whose face is painted green for the entire show, Wicked fans will not be disappointed either. There really is something for witch fans of every faction here.
Although 'Tim Murray is Witches' will appeal to the LGBTQ+ community, it's also ideal for any Broadway / musical theatre fans, anyone who likes to laugh, and honestly, anyone who simply enjoys spending an hour in the company of a talented, funny, kind-hearted human. The good vibes radiate off the stage.
This show is something unique at the Edinburgh Fringe and it's all topped off by an exquisite message about finding your coven. I teared up. Yes! "You've found a coven" is a stunning song and I could not agree with the sentiment more.
